I'm having similar issue using Logic Pro X with latest version of Superior Drummer 2.

Isn't it common in real world recording to have mono mic on kick, snare and stereo on overheads?

I watched a presentation on EZ drummer 2 and noticed on its mixer section that kick and snare were mono while overheads were stereo (as expected).

Does SD2 also have a way to do this?

Are you trying to multi-out into Logic or using the mixer in S2? I don't use Logic so I don't know if you can mix stereo and mono channels out from S2 into Logic.
