Damping the drums is about controlling the decay and overtones of a drum, right? Optimally you do it directly when sampling by using Moongel, rings, tape, etc. but if you have to simulate it after the fact, using the instrument's Envelope to change the Decay, Sustain, Hold and Release and then add Filter/EQ in mixer on the channels in question and perhaps play with the Level Envelope Releases for e.g. the AMB channel in the mixer as well, should get you somewhere near.
