callahan09 on EZMix 2 Latency Issue - Trying To Record While Hearing Guitar Amp

Here's my setup:

Windows 10 64-Bit Laptop
Intel Core i7-5700HQ @ 2.70 GHz CPU
16.0 GB RAM
520 MB/s SSD for storage

Input device: Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 USB interface, using the latest version standard driver from the Focusrite website.

DAW: Reaper (latest version)

First, I tried adding to my recording track the EZMix 2 effect plug-in with a guitar amp selected from the EZMix presets list (the same issue applies to all presets I've tried, not anything specific), when I arm the track for record and get a pretty significant delay between playing a string and hearing the effected result. Much too much latency to be playable.

I get the same kind of result when I just launch EZMix separately and not as a plug-in on the DAW.

I tried reducing the buffer size all the way down to 64 in EZMix settings. At the default (256) it lists input latency as 5.8 ms, output latency as 125.8 ms. At 64, it lists 1.5 ms input latency and 121.5 ms output latency, which I'm assuming is the output latency that I'm noticing so significantly in my monitors, because 1.5 ms doesn't sound like much. The Focusrite interface doesn't seem to be part of the problem, I hear it perfectly with no latency when there isn't an EZMix effect on the signal.

What can I do to improve this? It's basically impossible to record while listening to the effected signal at this rate, I have to play everything clean and then put EZMix effects on it afterwards, but some of what I'm playing is kind of difficult for me to play correctly without hearing the effect as I go...
